Are you aware that BG will be one day only (Aug. 14 2021)? How do you feel about that?
What I understand is that there will be no camping in the park this year.
What will that do to the jamming opportunities ---or lack thereof?
Maybe this wouldn't be a big problem for people that live a short distance away, but there are lots of us who travel from other states. There are lots of people who live 4+ hours away.
I can think of a lot of my friends who might not attend, given this setup. My feeling is that if you feel as strongly about this as I do, you should either contact the organization on their FB page or contact a Board member.
I'm disappointed to hear about this!!
The story as I heard is that they changed the dates for the Gathering but forgot to make sure there was a stage available. Turns out there's no stage... So, they shortened it to one day and a lot of activities won't happen.
Is camping open at Prophetstown State Park? Has anyone talked about organizing an informal old-time music gathering there as a way of extending the one-day event?
A group of people do that here in California in conjunction with the one-day Santa Barbara Old-Time Fiddlers' Festival and it works out great. People reserve campsites in the same area of the local county campground a few days ahead of the Sunday event and with musicians hanging out so close together, music-making just sort of spontaneously happens from morning through the 10:00 p.m. quiet hour--which is enforced. :)
Christine Breen has researched and found an area campground in Monticello, IN. It's called WHITE OAKS. They have cabins and camping sites w/ and w/o electrical hookups. https://whiteoaksrv.com. I think people will arrive on Friday (incl me). This is fairly close to Battle Ground.
