A friend of mine just mentioned there are still openings for Cowan Creek Mountain Music School’s online camp. I can’t believe it! I attended in person a number of years ago and loved everything about the experience.
I know online classes aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but if old time music is your thing, and you’re comfortable with Zoom, here’s a chance for a week of great instruction--banjo, fiddle, dulcimer, or singing at one of three levels--along with concerts, workshops, and more. Cost: $120.
I’m signed up for advanced banjo—in part because intermediate banjo was too early for my time zone. :)
Anyone else participating? If so, see you there!
Thanks for mentioning this, Cyndy. As you know, the whole experience of being there is great, not just the lessons. I'm not sure how well this can translate to a virtual experience, but still I would recommend this to anyone interested in traditional music (BTW, for any dulcimer players, Sarah Morgan is a fantastic player and I'm sure will be an inspiring teacher). Also, I think you've made a good choice for your banjo class. Sue would be a good teacher too, but I think Brett will be a little "rootsier."
Being there in person WAS wonderful (I took Bruce Greene’s fiddle class) but getting there from California would be challenging at the moment (I travel by train) so this feels like a cool opportunity for me!
