Maxine Gerber and I are thrilled to be curating the next week of Quarantine Happy Hour on Facebook. It’s an honor to be presenting these hour-long free online concerts with some of the best instrumental and vocal old-time music in the world! Be prepared for a deep dive into hard-core old-time music! Here's our schedule for this coming week, starting at 5:30 PDT each day:
Monday, 3/29: Earl White, Adrienne Davis & Victor Furtado - Cheery, driving, rhythmic, high energy old-time fiddle tunes and songs, drawing from Earl’s vast repertoire.
Tuesday, 3/30: Paul Harnik - Beautiful solo (mostly) fiddling featuring unique tunes from Kentucky, West Virginia and more. Magic old sounds from a paleontology professor.
Wednesday, 3/31: Rich Hartness & Tolly Tollefson - One of the great old-time duos of our time. True, deep shining souls of music.
Thursday, 4/1: Tricia Spencer & Howard Rains - Preserving and building upon their family music traditions from Kansas and Texas, Tricia and Howard are true artists of their regional musical styles and more.
Friday, 4/2: Alice Gerrard, Tatiana Hargreaves & Reed Stutz - Alice Gerrard is a talent of legendary status, joined by two of the finest young old-time musicians we know. What a fantastic trio!
Saturday, 4/3: The Bull Town Rascals: Ron Cole, Dwight Rogers, Gail Gillespie, Todd Woerner, & Margaret Martin - Drawing from many regional traditions, they were ragging and fingerpicking before it got cool.
Sunday 4/4: Jim & Joyce Cauthen - Come to an Alabama living room for a visit with the best and most knowledgeable of today’s Alabama old-time musicians.
We hope to see you there, and feel free to join the party in the comments section! But if you can't make it for the live shows, all of the shows will be archived for future listening.
