Okay, first you'll find these aren't fiddle tunes but help me out.
I'm no great shakes on piano, so let me know if these are hard to listen to.
Should be easy to name, but therein lies the crux: I think they're recognizable but I can fool myself. Respectfully thanks, FJ

I couldn’t recognize either song. Sorry! I hope that's not a reflection of my lacking musicality, lol. (I really wasn’t able to pick out a melody from all the notes. Was that on purpose? Were we supposed to try to recognize the chord progression?)

My guess on #1 is Comfortably Numb, about 40% on that.

#2 no clue--sounds like standard chord progression I-vi-ii-V, which describes 1000s of pop songs

Sorry. IMO, good piano-playing, though--I enjoyed listening

First one is sort of like "Comfortably Numb"

Second, no clue. I need some melody to recognize it as a song and not just chords that sound good with interesting movement. laugh

Does your pyeanna have weighted keys?

Hint: top 40 circa 1970 & 1972 respectively.

Ha! That's a big category that I listen to all the time.

I have no idea, but I do have a suggestion. If you use the attachment feature instead of posting a link, it takes the listener directly to the .mp3 instead of to your music page. Saves a step and is probably easier for you too.

Test 1 Rocketman

Test 2 Your Song

Adding vocals as I did with these samples, instead of playing and singing tells me the phrasing is different.  Stylized or something else makes me curious. I'm not to the point of creating original stuff. I'm still studying what has been. So just know that I don't only screw up fiddle tunes. I've branched out.  Thanks again!

PS. Doug, I have a tablet and can't seem to "attach" like everyone else. Maybe you could step me through it. As you can see, the above are still links. I'm sure they're not linked to the right thing.

PSS. Billy, I do have a digital piano with weighted keys.

Steve, under the last post in a thread it should say "Compose Quick Reply" with a box beneath it, and below that it should say "Attachments," with all your photos and music. Once you place the cursor in the text box, the virtual keyboard might obscure it, but you can scroll a bit and see it.
I have an Android tablet, and this seems to work with both plain and rich text, and in either orientation of the tablet. Also if you use the "Reply" icon instead of "Quick Reply." Of course the photo or mp3 has to have been uploaded to your page first.

SWEET! I get it now!  Can't edit my past posts, but next time. . . . .

All I had to do is scroll down, and it clicked. Thanks!

Although neither of those test tunes were OT and were essentially a smooth run of back up "chords". I find it very interesting how much they add to the whole tune once the root melody got plugged in. How often do we consider stuff like this when playing OT stuff on the fiddle?

TBH I immediately thought Elton John, but still couldn't decide/hear which of his songs. Definitely didn't think "Rocket Man" smiley

Goes to show how the other instruments /effects (like the long slow gliss that happens after "I'm a rocket man" leading into the chorus help to identify a song for me.
