Slow Jam Fizz

We're starting a new online old-time slow-ish jam, with a twist!
Sponsored by the Berkeley Old-Time Music Convention, it will be on Zoom every Friday 4-5pm Pacific Time.
Each week will have different amazing leaders. All tunes will be led by the leaders, so it won't be a round robin like some jams you might be used to.
The definition of "slow" will be left to the discretion of the leaders. Sometimes it might be too fast for you, sometimes too slow. If it's too fast, try it anyway! It'll be a challenge, and what have you got to lose?

Here are some unique advantages of an online jam:
Nobody can hear you if you screw up!
You can’t hear others if they screw up!
You can hear the details of the leaders’ playing.
You can enjoy jam leaders from all over rather than from only your home community.
It will be free, but tips to the leaders are encouraged.

Here’s our initial lineup. Be prepared not to be bored! Hope you’ll join us.

February 19 - The Horsenecks (Gabrielle Macrae & Barry Southern)
February 26 - Tatiana Hargreaves & Reed Stutz
March 5 - Rafe Stefanini & Nikki Lee
March 12 - Joseph Decosimo & Kasey Poole Decosimo
March 19 - Paul Brown & Terri McMurray
March 26 - Suzy & Eric Thompson

To join: Get the zoom link by sending an email to slowjamfizz@stickerville.org.

Feel free to share this announcement with your friends and students!

Sounds like fun, Brendan, lots of luck.

I'd give it a try if I ever figure out how to use that Zoom thing, remember to note down the time & date (then remember to remember), and wouldn't be eating dinner right about that time. My playing time on any of my instruments has been cut way back due to family matters - I get maybe 10-15 minutes a day, lately mostly on Classical guitar.

When the jam leaders give permission, we'll be archiving the jams on YouTube, so if you can't attend in real time, you can still go back and view them at your leisure. They won't have the interactive aspect, but you'll have the advantage of being able to slow down or speed up the videos to suit your preferred speed, and of replaying them if you want to pick up a new tune in more detail!

Our new Slow Jam Fizz sessions on Zoom have been a huge success, with many more people tuning in and joining than we ever anticipated! We have a great lineup coming up, with a bunch of terrific musicians lending their talents to this fun event. If you want to know more, please scroll up to the top of the thread to get all the details, and how to get the Zoom meeting link. These jams are all also live-streamed to YouTube as well as being archived on YouTube, so you can always go back and watch them again - and even slow them down or speed them up if you wish!

The sessions are all free, but we encourage generous tipping of the leaders (who get 100% of the tips). Tipping information will be posted on both Zoom and YouTube.

Here's our Slow Jam Fizz schedule for the next six weeks, April 2nd - May 14th (every Friday at 4pm Pacific Time). Be prepared not to be bored! Hope you’ll join us.

April 2 - Bruce and Audrey Molsky
April 9 - Nokosee Fields
April 16 - Squirrel Butter: Charmaine Slaven and Charlie Beck
April 23 - The Horsenecks: Gabrielle Macrae and Barry Southern
April 30 - Riley Calcagno and Vivian Leva (of The Onlies)
May 7 - Tricia Spencer and Howard Rains
May 14 - Judy Hyman and Jeff Claus (of The Horseflies)

Hope to see you there!
