A couple of weeks ago I learned about a new Fiddle Tune of the Week endeavor starting up over on Instagram. (https://www.fiddlehangout.com/topic/54352) I followed the group and I've been finding it fun to see how a number of different people approach the same tune.
This week's choice happens to be Sal's Got Mud Between Her Toes -- an old favorite I learned from David Bragger way back when -- and so I decided to make a video so I could participate. It's a challenge, since I always hear something I wish I could change, but it a good push to try to play cleanly.
I'm sharing here because even though I comment in threads now and again, I haven't posted a sound file in a long time, and I think it's helpful for people new to the site to get to know others by their music. So, this is me: an unpolished bow-pattern-using foot-tapping old-time down bower who isn't particularly photogenic. :) It may not look like it, but I really like playing this tune. Here are three of my best tries!

To show up on Instagram on the Tune of the Week group page? Just tag posts with @fiddletotw and #fiddletotw.

Great work!
I run the page for those interested. If you tag the hashtag and the page itself i can find it easier and repost your posts. I'd love to have more involvement!
I posted about it on here a few weeks and got a follow or two out if it so I know some folks saw.
Cyndy, your version is still one of my favorites. That is exactly how I wanted to sound but I don't have the skillset...yet
Gentleman From VA Thanks for the added information—and the compliment which makes my day! It’s taken me twelve years to begin to sound like I want to sound—and I’m still figuring out how to get there. :) I can tell you, though, for me, foot tapping (audible or inaudible) makes a noticeable difference when I want to add groove.
When I got the notification email and saw your user name, I thought of Cowan Creek! I was way over my head at that camp, and it was even more challenging because I was camping thirty minutes away and taking on some volunteer responsibilities, but it is one of the best old-time experiences I've had to date. I would go back in an instant, if I weren't so far away now--and splurge on the motel this time around. :) Thanks for the note. I hope you are doing well.
