Hoping the hand-me-down computer from our daughter will make my presonus track -dropping and freezing- up issues go away, but we are dreading the big changeover and stalling like mad...not sure if we will get it done today or not...nothing sours the day like wrangling a computer and wrestling with software. Not sure if we'll ever get it done...lol.

Why not spend a little time and see if you can fix the problems with yur current one? I gave you some suggestions in one of your recent music posts, and it wouldn't take long to see if they help.
If they do it would be easier than changing computers. My sister sent me her old Windows 10 laptop back in September, and despite the fact that she spent a week diligently cleaning off her data, including doing a factory reset, I didn't get it working right until last night! Now to see about software.
Good luck, Doug. Yeah we looked at the old one and I think it's just messed up. We found the perfect excuse for waiting...we don't have anything to back up the old one. I've got tons of mp3s I made on there...don't really know what use they are, but after working on them I would hate to lose them...somebody can throw them in the garbage when my time on this earth is up...lol...like, I used to love to draw...paint a little, but never had the money for it but could always have pencil and paper...besides, color freaks me out pretty bad...anyway, spent a lot of time over many years drawing...one day, I realized every drawer and corner of our house was stuffed with old deteriorating drawings from decades...I threw them away and said if I don't get rid of them somebody else will have to one day. It's compelling for the person to do these things, music, art, whatever, but useless to anybody else...but still...getting back to my point about the great excuse for not tackling the job today...we ordered whatever you call 'em...thumb drive things or whatever, to put all that stuff onto...tons and tons of wav and mp3 files from my fumbling around with the presonus...I'll get them all onto that...ain't nothing else much on that computer because we never use it except for my presonus...then, someday somebody else can come along and throw those thumbdrives in the garbage after we do all th work of saving them...lol...life is ridiculous in so many ways...sometimes I think I should just hollow out a log and have me a drum and keep life earthy and simple. But...no. I shall continue on in the complicated manner in which we now live.
Yeah...I don't know why I even want to save them...they're mostly on youtube, except for some I took off back when youtube said if there was anything on there kids might like they could fine you up to 42,000 per video...lol...I tried to out guess the whatever...robotic tracking or whatever they were gonna do...took a bunch off...most of them should still be somewhere on the big computer from where I converted them over, except for the ones I did before we had that computer because our previous computer crashed...I lost dozens of videos that way and of course had taken them off youtube out of paranoia about losing everything and ending up homeless because I overlooked something kids might like in my youtubes. Then of course, youtube seems to have never followed up with that threat...the ones my grandson watches that are for video games for adults or kids are still going without problems...so...whatever. Youtube, global pandemic, whatever.
So some might just stay on youtube or maybe youtube will end up following through with their threats they were sending us this time last year...no idea...maybe aliens will finally get here and they can show us how to store our tunes in some uniquely safe corner of the multiverse...I don't know why I feel the need to save them...lol. It doesn't really make a lot of sense.
It's funny...music is a temporal art...here for a few seconds, gone forever. Unless the sound vibes do find that spot where they are safe in some far away place...but we don't know how to find them...seems it might be best to just let them go.

Of course mp3's take up hard drive space - just not as much as some other formats. Also, unless you delete them, every time you close a session Studio One probably saves a session data file plus all the audio bits and pieces used in the recording.
It only takes two mouse clicks to see how much disk space you have. Open file explorer and find your hard drive (usually drive C). Right click on it and select "Properties" from the drop down menu. Wndows will even show you a little graphic of the free and used space on the drive. There is a button marked "Disk Cleanup" that allows you to delete unnecessry "junk" files as Billy mentioned.
Its like housekeeping. If you don't keep the cobwebs swept out of the corners, some night a black widow will climb up and bite you while you're sleeping. Happens all the time.
I eat black widow spiders for breakfast (actually not too crazy about them). Well the hard drive has space, seems to...just the doggone thing does not work well. The audio seems to be just missing on everything too. We are in the process today...got the thumb drives...whole bunch of them and getting the mp3s on there. As I said before, why, i don't know. I guess good or bad, they seem like my babies...like I'm a molly fish and those are my hundreds of babies and I can eat them for breakfast along with the black widow or put them onto a thumb drive for whatever purposes or porpoises on down the road or down at the bottom of the fish tank.
So...at some point we will tackle the thing where you have to go get all that software garbage to get back on the computer, on the hand-me-down from daughter. We'll see what happens next. I'm keeping a sledgehammer close by...just in case I decide to end it all...not for us, for the computers. Coffee break for now...gonna swim around in the coffee...that should help.
