Hi all! I’m new to this forum, so I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this :) but I’m looking for a hardanger (is that spelled right?) fiddle, they’re sooo hard to find in the States! And besides, I’m a young fiddler and can’t spend A TON of money on it. Maybe this is impossible and I’ll have to wait until I visit Norway, or have a larger budget for such things ;) :D
But I thought I’d ask if anyone knows anything about this hard to find instrument!?
I have a 2015 Lynn Berg available for sale as well as a Chinese Hardanger that I got and graduated and varnished.
They are out there, but sometimes even bad ones are expensive.
Tom Jessen of cricketfiddle.com makes them, and other exotic string instruments. They aren't particularly cheap, but you'll be hard pressed to find any cheaper.
Good luck in your search, and keep us updated! I'd love to get a hardingfele...
