Looking for a mid-priced double case. Might get stepped on. Should be suspension. Will travel with me in van/RV daily. Would like room for shoulder rest.
Anything mid priced y’all like better than the Bobelock?
I’ve searched archives and didn’t find any advice from the past 10 years.
Honestly, Bobelock is an industry standard for the lower end that can be matched but not easily beaten. However, if you're looking for other options, GEWA makes very good cases that are affordable. We’ve been selling a lot of them at the shop lately.
BAM makes a nice lightweight double case, but it’s a foam core case and not as sturdy (intended more for hand carrying on planes for dealers).
Here’s a link to the GEWA Concerto case. They have more deluxe options as well. Send a pm if you’re interested in one.

Survive being stepped on .... that's a big ask. You will either need Carbon or glass fiber or an archtop 3/4 inch plywood case. Room for a shoulder rest ? In the outside pocket maybe of a Bobelock. I often use a Guardian case to haul a pair of fiddles but it would never take being stepped on by more than a toddler. Good luck.... let us know what you settle on.
The Crossrock fiberglass double case says it can take 300lbs of pressure. It may be worth considering.
Thanks, fellas. I’ve been quite happy with the fiberglass half moon and shaped cases, so I’m a bit bummed to not see a fiberglass option from Bobelock.
