I was just playing some uke and then some fiddle. They were both leaning on the couch and I realized the fiddle has a bigger body than a tenor ukulele. This lead to me gathering the closest ones and take a picture.
R to L: solid acacia baritone ukulele, Eastman 4/4 violin, laminate mahogany tenor ukulele, solid acacia soprano ukulele. The baritone body is the same size as the fiddle, the rest are smaller. Not pictured concert size (Between tenor and soprano size).
Some years ago I was playing in the band in a theatrical musical. Some fiddle and more electric bass - sometimes switching in the same song. Sometimes I had trouble fiddling in tune, and one day I realized that the entire scale length of the violin was about the same as the first five frets of the P-bass. No wonder!
I have an old Harmony too, plastic fingerboard and all!
