My violin kept getting out of tune so it was recommended to me to check the distance of my tailpiece. I then found that my tailguts were not adjusted properly and were too far from the tail piece. I got one of them off but the other wont budge and I need it off ASAP. Does anybody know how to get it off?
Take out the tail pin?
Is it actually gut or the modern kind with a thread for adjustment.
Maybe cut it, then replace with adjustable gut....
can you take a picture?
There is only one tailgut! Are you talking about the nuts on a nylon tailgut? Why don't you just tighten them to reduce the distance. Better still, replace it. Any good luthier could change one out very quickly.
