I am looking for a good 5-string fiddle. Would be willing to trade a 4 -string fiddle, or a banjo. I have several of each. Can do cash either way, to reach a fair and equitable amount. Let me know what you have. Thanks!

Maybe not helpful, but got a 5-string recently. Got it from Fiddlerman.com and very happy with it for the price.

I saw that they carry some. Do they set things up for fiddlers, or more for classical players?

For five-strings, I not sure there is really a classical benchmark. Because of the 5 strings, the angles between strings are less than for a typical four string - it feels closer to a flattened bridge on a regular fiddle. I wil say that the action close to the nut is slightly higher than I prefer, so I may get that adjusted a bit, but it is very playable. I imagine that if you have special requests you could let them know. I have been impressed by their operation (this 5-string is the second instrument I bought from them).

Yeah, I have ordered strings and trialed some bows from them, but I haven’t ordered anything like a fiddle from them.  Their service has always been great. FedEx lost an Arcus S6 bow that I bought from them, and Fiddlershop refunded my money immediately. I ended up with a T5, which I like better, for less money.
