That foam like material came off one of my BonMusica chin rests. I would appreciate finding out what type of adhesive would be best to reattach the material to the chin rest. Friends suggested several things, but so far nothing has been effective.

Thanks in advance

The double sided tape used to install pickups in mandolins may work for you.

Or you could order replacement foam.

I still hang with my Bon Musica. I even bought a second one for my pickup violin setup.  R/

I actually had done a bit of research into this a couple of months ago because I had to replicate that part of the BonMusica shoulder rest. Try 3M Super 77 Multipurpose adhesive. The foam like material appears to be neoprene foam rubber and the metal piece is aluminum. The 3M adhesive does a great job of sticking these 2 materials together. It comes in a spray can, and applies easy and dries fast. You can buy it in an auto parts supply house or Lowes or Amazon.

Don't remember where I found it, but you can get adhesive backed foam sold as gasket material for mating camper covers to pickup truck beds. Might be easiest and you would have a long-term supply.

By the way, Dick, that is a shoulder rest, not a chin rest.
