hi there!
i'm looking for a pickup to buy but not sure which kind..
i play viola in a folk band so i'm looking for one that doesn't sound too metallic, but also one that is not too expensive..
Also, i never used a pick up before, so ill be happy to hear any advice, or just information about it, for example can it harm the instrument in any way? can you install and remove it without a problem?
do i need a special adapter for it?
thanks

I haven’t had experience with it, but I’ve heard that the pickups designed by Eric Aceto are very good.

The L.R. Baggs pickups are well-regarded. The downside with that model is that the wire is permanently fixed to the bridge, meaning that if it breaks or warps, you have to buy a new pickup.

Fishman makes a nice pickup that is easy to install and remove. There is a folded piece of copper at the end of the wire that you have to carefully insert under one of the wings of the bridge.

There are lots of options out there, but these are a few to start.
