I’ve signed up to attend the Midwest Banjo Camp this june in Olivet, Michigan. I’ll be attending as a banjo player, but they have lots of classes for fiddlers. I’m wondering if anyone here is going/been before. Who’s open for a sloppy/mediocre jam session with me? (I’ve never jammed before, I’m more of the solo songster type)
The banjo camp has lots of jamming opportunities that are arranged, advanced, medium, slow. Great place to meet great players. Mac Benford, Alan Jabbour, Bill Keith, Cathy Barton are some of those who have been there and who have passed on—lots of other great players that are still alive, too. ;-)
You will have a great time, they call upon musicians in the surrounding environs to help with keeping enough jamming open for all. Done that some, though not in a long while. (I live in Okemos, about a 45 min drive).
Hope you have a lot of fun and learn lots of new things! Enjoy!
Yeah, i'm looking forward to it. Its a bit expensive, but we have no kids, so I might as well invest in myself :)
