There are lots of them I’ve been trying out. But what I am looking for is one that will let you choose the opening you want to practice. Most of them choose the opening at random. will let you pick an opening but it’s a monthly subscription. I’m looking for a one time payment. Thanks for looking.

Have you tried Lichess? It's free.

As I understand it, With Lichess you play against people. I want to play against a computer so I can play one opening again and again until I have a handle on it.

I play against people and I play the same two openings all the time...

English Opening and the Caro Kann, there are many variations after the first move.

OK, but For example I would play the Moeller attack +5 moves, then restart and try again and again so it becomes ingrained in me. I found a free app
that works well enough; SmallFish. BTW, how much does cost each month?

Chess is one of the oldest games in the world dating back over 1500 years. The game of chess has evolved as it spread around the globe to the game we play today.

I don't know anything about it. I'll 10 year old grandson says he plays some chess app on his tablet in bed at night when he's supposed to be sleeping, and every Granny Day we have here once a week, he wants to play me a couple of games. Well...I'm no chess whiz and haven't studied it, just played it some in the past...I mean, I don't think I'm a flatout breeze to beat, although don't know much about it...I'm amazed at the tricky, sneaky awful things he does to me when we I'm gonna have to get me an app or something too. I try so hard... he just beats the daylights outta me.
He also does this to me in the Asian game, Go. My gosh...he has an app for that one too. I'm no I need apps.

You guys ever play Go? It's worse than far as mind-blowing maneuvers and such. We got grandson a magnetic board a few years ago and he puts us all to shame with that doggone thing! It's been played in Asian countries for centuries.
