I'm watching the Senate impeachment trial and I'm reminded that there used to be a Congressman who was a FIDDLER.. Who was that? Was he a hangout member...

It would be easy to find the guy on Google, but where is the Hangout fun in that?

You're thinking of Robert Byrd, senator from West Virginia (and former Klan member). amazon.com/Mountain-Fiddler-Se...003UIRBAG

Yup, I have that lp. Though his fiddling was Old Time he was backed up by a bluegrass band (The Country Gentlemen..no solos). This was back in the 70’s when I was a bluegrass banjer boy. It had the added bonus of James Baileys banjo backup pretty much isolated on one channel and easy to pick out. You can have a listen here. m.youtube.com/watch?v=7NRbkt1qA8o

He was an awesome fiddler. Every poltiican should also be a musician...lol. Well lots of people in the south were once in the kkk but fortunately came to realize the stupidity of that whole thing. Just like many were anti-slavery, but since the economy was built on nothing but slavery, they didn't know another way to function. In our own day and age, I'm opposed to fossil fuels and plastic junk...but I don't know how else to function, so I must do things I don't believe in.

My family was against slavery, but there was a two-story slave house on our family farm...so, somewhere along the way someone there didn't know how to do things in any other way. Ain't right, but they didn't have the imagination, ingenuity, technology, money, etc., to break out of a sick culture.

Byrd is one of my favorite fiddlers. While we are talking about fiddling senators, Albert Gore Sr. also played the fiddle, and I haven't heard them, but  there are recordings of his playing in the Library of Congress.

Maybe they should form a band and put on a REAL show trial in the Senate since they seem so uninterested in a real trial. I'm gonna get banned now, ain't I?

I doubt it - but please, we really don't want to turn this forum into just another one where everyone is yelling at each other, do we? Okay, everybody: take a deep breath - and think about fiddling. Better yet: play a tune.

What he said. If you have such shenanigans on your mind, you're not fiddling enough!

Would it be out of line to suggest we all fiddle White House Blues? At this point, I'm forming some very clear, and you might even say pithy, opinions.

I'll keep my mouth shut, but I hope people can just tell how I feel...lol. Or else my personality misrepresents me, speaking of representation...er, I mean speaking of fiddling.
