I’ve had this violin in my family for over 100 years and I just recently discovered it. Some guy was telling me it was not a Strnad but was insistent in purchasing it . I wanna know ur guys opinion

A lot of old fiddles were marked as strads were labeled as such and it is not likely the real thing but take it to someone who might know

Aren't all of the real Strads are accounted for? Either way, 100 years in the family puts it smack dab in the middle of the Golden age of mass production fiddles. Very unlikely it is the Grail. Post pictures of the violin, including F holes and a couple angles of the scroll. THAT is the first step in identifying. Labels can be and are forged, they mean nothing.

Just because it's not a real Stradivarius doesn't mean it isn't a fine violin and could be worth a pretty penny. Just not a life-changingly pretty penny.

Strnad, Kašpar, * 6.1.1752 - † 13.11.1823, Czech violin maker, established his own workshop in Prague in 1787. He built violins according to A. Stradivari

Pics are no help if you, like I, have never seen a Strnad fiddle. They are pretty uncommon. The OP really needs to find someone very familiar with Strnads AND not trying to buy it. I have no idea what they are worth, either.

I don't know how much help this is but I found a few pictures and some recent auction prices for Strnad violins.

You can zoom in pretty well on the pictures on this page including on the tag inside:
martinswanviolins.com/caspar-s...d-violin/

You can get to full size pictures here too:
tarisio.com/cozio-archive/brow...er_ID=728

That second page has a link to auction prices going back to 1984:
