I've heard that instrument is very hard to tune. Not too surprising - Nikki has long been concerned with dental hygiene.

Sounds like a Sruti box with only one key. BTW, how was the fiddled tuned ? The video may have given a person a chuckle, but playing along with a steady tone for a key can help improve a persons intonation. In fact, I bought a CD with the recorded Sruti box sounds from Darrel Anger.

I would have expected Rafe to do a better job playing "Brushy Run" ;)

I found the device to hold his fiddle and the way he plays it to be interesting.

It got me to thinking that there might be some ergonomic advantages to hold the fiddle that way. 1. More comfortable bowing since you don't have to raise your fiddle arm as much and provides a better angle at the strings, 2. Left hand/wrist position might be at a a more natural position relative to the fingerboard. I think I could easily transition to that from my more traditional under neck position since I wouldn't have to worry about keeping the fiddle stationary?

Or is that another thread?

There is a site that advertises rigs like that; it's been linked to from here. Somebody might provide it again.

I assumed he made it. I'm may not try it but I'm considering it. Did a quick search and didn't find a fiddle strap but I did find this. Couldn't resist a peek.

My wife thinks my fiddle is a torture device.

I got this clip for my fiddle. It took some getting used to after decades of under the chin.

But, it makes my fiddle sound great because I took off the shoulder and chin rests.
