Well I couldn't resist playing another one on Youtube while it's still there...so...let's see...this is my fourth or fifth "last" video, or possilble last video, since I can't find out what youtube has in mind.
That tune is one of my favorites. I play on banjo, but have not started to attempt working it out of the fiddle.
Actually, I've been off of my instruments for the past few months, but have started working on the Classical guitar a bit, and some "classic" banjo stuff (standard classical C tuning, finger style), but need to get back into all the instruments again.
Happy to hear you're getting back to it all. I think Frosty Morn works out better on banjo than on fiddle, really, even though it's actually an old fiddle tune, I believe. I never could play it too good on the fiddle...finally, I started playing it out of sawmill in mainly 2nd position, just getting back down to first for ending phrases...that's the only way I've been able to handle modal or minor tunes, it seems. Somehow that just makes it work better for me, but it is just so much easier to manage and even better sounding on just banjo, seems to me.
I tend to agree with you on that, Peggy. Banjo seems the proper instrument, but I've heard some good fiddle work on it as well.
Great job Peggy, love it! Loy
