Hope you don't mind a five-string interloper stepping into your playground. But I do so in the spirit of fiddle music. Which is to say say, I'm looking for someone nearby to play with. Jams don't work so well for me, largely because there are none within an hour radius of where I live, and also because I prefer the chemistry of working with one or more other musicians to get better over time. (And I'm the father of two, so getting out at night can be difficult).
So, in short, if you're anywhere near Union county, NJ, or know any fiddlers in the vicinity that would love to have some banjo backup, I'd love to hear from you.
It's worth saying I'm a banjo player whose skills fall somewhere between intermediate and advanced. I've been playing three-finger style for ten years or so, so I'd be glad to play with a bluegrass-centric player. However, I would just love to find someone that enjoys three-finger style as backup to their old time playing. I truly have no need to take a solo.
