tonyelder Echoing the thoughts in your post!
I joined Fiddle Hangout soon after I picked up a fiddle -- I've been playing a little over eleven years now -- and being a member of the community early on gave me the support and inspiration I needed to move forward. I have fond memories of early discussions with people I came to view as friends.
I owe my good fiddle to the Hangout. I was able to trade the fiddle that I won toward one that Michael (KCFiddles) had for sale which made it feasible to buy it -- online, on a whim, and I'm so glad I did. :) And I don't believe I would have found my teacher (whose on-going wisdom and guidance continues to buoy me up) had it not been for his students' posts.
Fiddle Hangout is a gem of a place and I'm eager to join with all of you to make sure that it continues to be so.
I like playing by myself more than in jams because some expect way too much of me. It doesn't mean I don't or won't but I enjoy sitting out on the porch playing more than anything.
