Crossing the Cumberlands

Genre: Bluegrass  Style: Unknown/None Chosen  Key: Gm  Tuning: Standard  Difficulty: Beginner

Download: JPEG | MUSEDIT

Notes: I'm saying this is beginner because this song is played, for the most part, slow and creepy-like. It is in Gm which is relative to Bb. Put a little more "weight" in the 1st note of each set of four 8th notes - especially the first two measures of the phrasing. The grace notes can be made by stopping the C and G notes with one finger and slurring into the D. The tab doesn't indicate fingering, only "frets" or 1/2 tone intervals. I transcribed this from the opening banjo part of The Nashville Bluegrass Band's recording as this is a 'banjo tune' and the fiddle on this particular cut takes many liberties with the melody. Enjoy
