This fiddle works great for old time fiddle tunes. It has a rich, full sound and is kind of mid range in volume. It sounded fine with the medium Helicores that came with it but I changed over to medium Prims as I prefer those strings and they work great on this fiddle

The fiddle was set up perfectly. It came set up pretty much like I have my other two fiddles set up and is my easiest playing fiddle.
The tuning pegs work even better than I anticipated. I converted my other two fiddles to Wittner tuning pegs as one fiddle had poorly fitted pegs. The second fiddle's conventional pegs worked OK but not nearly as well as the Royce fiddle and I won't be converting to Wittners on this one.

I like the appearance and he did a beautiful job on the finish.

The hardware and finish are perfect. It came with a Wittner tailpiece with fine tuners which work well.

Customer service is first class. All of the many great reviews of Royce's fiddles is what prompted me to buy this one. Dealing with Royce is just what I expected from reading the many glowing reviews of the way he does business and makes fiddles.

The Wittner tailpiece is good and there is nothing to upgrade on this fiddle.

This is a great fiddle. My only regret is that I didn't buy a fiddle from Royce when I first started 3 1/2 years ago.
