Let me just say that I firmly believe that every old-time fiddler needs to own this. I have gained so much knowledge from this instructional video and it has also helped me shape the way I approach fiddling. John is a phonomenal teacher and is very articulate in the way he expresses his ideas. He explains them in a way that almost anyone can understand and is very good at showing examples of what he is trying to get across. Overall this is an extremely GREAT investment and I would highly recommend it to any fiddler. I would also suggest you purchase the following recordings for further studying of what John is teaching, "Wild Hog in the Red Brush," Gene Goforth's album "Emminence Breakdown," "Speed of the Old Longbow" and "Hamilton Ironworks."

For a guy like me that can only play a little bit right now, the sound of this instrument suits me pretty well. I have noticed though it tends to sound nicer when played with a fiddle mute on. Without it it's a little overpowering which to me is fine for bluegrass and old time fiddling.

When I recieved this fiddle the bridge wasn't put on it, so you had to do it yourself. Luckily it was easy to setup.

This has an extremely awesome Metallic black finish. I have always admired black fiddles due to my great-grandfather playing one on the radio back in the '30s, so I was happy to get the black finish on this fiddle.

The only thing I really think I'd have to do to fix it is put a new tailpiece on it. This is because the E string auto tuner doesn't work correctly. Other than that it's all good.

For a beginner fiddle, this is fantastic! I've seen many of these SV-75 fiddles priced at close to $60 which you really can't go wrong with. I honestly wasn't surprised at how great this fiddle was. I have owned quite a few Saga products over the years and they haven't made a bad instrument as far as I know. I highly recommend this fiddle!
