Homemade fiddle strap
Elastic cord and cordstop from fabric shop.
Bit of leather from an old guitar strap.
The bit of leather goes behind my neck and the elastic loops over lower bouts of the violin.
I use a shoulder rest for the platform and friction it provides, but I've removed my chinrest to reduce weight and because I don't need it or want to use it anymore.
I've been using this strap for a year or more now. It's not perfect. But, it helped me through a period of severe neck pain (caused by long hours playing and clenching the fiddle with my chin and shoulder).

p.s. I've tried many other things including the Wickelbuckle, Happynex, and Violin Valet. All of which worked, and all of which had their advantages and disadvantages. This homemade strap has its disadvantages too. Still I've been using it now longer than any of the others.
