The German fiddle and the Goya. It doesn't sound like Boney was having a lot of fun.

The German violin backed by the Goya G10. I think this is now in the public domain. If anyone knows anything to the contrary, please let me know.

This is an original, written in 2003 for two violins and guitar. The instruments are my German violin, a second German violin that I call "The Schatzig violin," which dates from around 1900, plus or minus,and a finger picked Martin D28.

This Northumbrian tune has always caught me and refused to let go. I've played it here on the Parker violin, Goya G10 guitar, and a long-neck, open-back Ode banjo.

A Finnish traditional waltz. Somewhere it says that Metsäkukkia means Woodland Flowers. The violin is recorded on a Tascam DR-07 and the guitar tracks are added with n-Track Studio.

I learned this from the mandolin playing of banjogeorge on MHO although I do it a lot slower. Hmmm... learned a tune from the mandolin playing of a banjo player to play on the fiddle. Go figure. I also did a second fiddle part for it but I think I like it better solo as played here.

A slow version of Annie played on the German fiddle backed by (my next-to-most-recent love) a 2007 cello from the Shanghai shop of Ma Zhibin.

This is a mix of 2 violins, viola, mandolin, and guitar, all played by me and stirred into the soup one by one using an ancient version of n-track studio. This music stuff sure is fun.

One of O'Carolan's sweetest. Mandolin and violin. The mandolin is a 1918 Gibson A model. The fiddle is German, made sometime prior to 1891 by an unnamed shop in the Schuster Brothers organization.

Two fiddle tracks, a mandolin, and a guitar. The melody, played on fiddle and mandolin more or less in unison, was learned from the very nice mandolin playing of Jesper Deleuran on MHO, the second fiddle is my invention, and the guitar just sort of happens. Also, I just noticed that Bodie the cat chimed in with a little ad lib of his own right near the end. The old guy is deaf as a post so it's just lucky that he's on pitch.

Here's a tune I stumbled across just a few days ago that kinda caught me. How could one pass up a song with a title like this? The German fiddle and the Goya.

This is a repost of the same viola/mandolin recording I've had posted since Sept. 2009 but which appears to have become inaccessible somewhere along the line; I'm not sure when. Hopefully, this one can actually be listened to.
======================================
I find this melody haunting; one of those tunes that I just can't get out of my mind. This is my arrangement played on my newest toy, a viola (not strictly a fiddle, I guess, but kinda like one; notwithstanding that it feels a little like holding an orange crate under my chin) combined with mandolin and a couple of guitar tracks.

Recorded about five years ago through a mildly muddy preamp, but here 'tis anyway. Played on my usual combination: the German violin and the Goya.
