I first learned old time and Scandinavian tunes from my grandpa and dad. I got into a contra dance band that mostly played old time and then got hooked by Celtic. I took a couple years of violin lessons and played briefly I. A community orchestra but remained a fiddler at heart. I’ve played in several Irish and Contra bands since about 1990. I play frequently in a church praise team, which sometimes verges on violin work. Currently, I’m part of a six piece Irish group that was getting a lot of gigs until covid. I consider myself a semi-pro, kind of like a single A ball player. No plans to quit the day job.
