I finally got my german fiddle back from the fiddle doctor. She needed the bottom block rebuilt when the pin/tailpiece went PING!
It's been awhile. And now I remember what I've been missing. Wild One is AWESOME! Dark and deep and growly and made for modals, and sounding just as fabulous under my ear as she does when someone else plays her. And she plays like a dream.
Unfortunately her chinrest went missing, so Steve put one of his spares on, but . . . ack. It's shrimpy and low profile. But I'm so glad to have her back that I'll put up with it until mine turns up in that mess he calls a workshop. I can't rag on him about it now that I'm looking at my own desktop.
I've picked Wild One up for a quick tune a few dozen times today already, and WOW. I just fell head over heels in love all over again. I've got all the symptoms. Mooning at the keyboard, trying to keep my mind on work, but stealing glances at her constantly. Humming the tunes she knows best. Geez, I've got it bad.
It's the whole package, and it for sure isn't her looks. She's not the visual star of my fiddle party, but she does have a winsome appeal in her lightly figured back wood, and her blondish gold toned finish. But above all, it's her voice. Oh, that voice! Marlena Dietrich, eat your heart out!
Oh, here comes the urge again . . . gotta go fiddle . . .
