I've been part of a four piece (Scruggs style) bluegrass band (banjo/vocalist, double bass/vocalist, guitar/vocalist & female harmonist) for quite some time now. We call ourselves (for want of calling ourselves something) "The Sheaf River Band" after a river in Sheffield of the same name.
For the past few months we've been getting together with 2 really good musicians, fiddle & mandolin players, and doing two monthly, (1st & 2nd Thurs), informal bluegrass evening in two different pubs in the Sheffield and Penistone areas, As you can imagine, this configuration, makes a really good bluegrass sound. Then sometimes there's other musicians, fiddles, mandolins, singers, guitars, come and join in the fun.
To put it in a nut shell, I have to say that I'm really enjoying the music at the moment and hope to continue for the foreseeable future.
