Hi all! I'm not a fiddle player however my Great Grandpa was "Fiddlin Bill" otherwise known as William Stepp. My Dad is the late Robert Wise Stepp.
I'm really missing family and family stories and I don't know...guess I just wanted to say hi to people that are interested in part of my heritage.
I hope all of you have a great day!

Hey, Trish! Y'know, you're welcome here, just to hang out with fiddlers, but you might find you get the urge to pick one up yourself. Most of us here were older than you when we started. It's in your blood.

There must some fine old fiddles in your possession. You should really consider playing it is a lot of fun. And as Mudbug says most were "older kids" when we picked up a fiddle.

Welcome! Ways of the World is one of my all-time favorite tunes. : )
I agree with the others. If you've ever wished that you could play, find a fiddle and give it a try. I was 48 when I started and it's been a happy and life-changing (seriously) experience.

Hello Trish and welcome!

Hi, Trish. If you go to the video section of this site, I just added a recording of your grandfather playing "Bonaparte's Retreat," made by the LIbrary of Congress in 1937.

Thanks everyone for the welcome! Thank you as well for the recording of my Great Grandpa playing Bonaparte's Retreat! My Dad was 10 years old at the time that was recorded. My Dad told me before that his whole family used to play music while sitting on the front porch. Thing is, my Dad never was interested in playing....says he was a good listener though! lol
