I bought a guitar a year ago because it was a good deal, and I knew I wanted to learn it sometime. I've picked it up, taught myself a couple of chords, and basically gotten nowhere with it. So I decided to sign up for a few lessons to learn some basics, and get myself through the phase where I don't play because I sound bad, and don't know what to do about it. The teacher does a lot of community music stuff in my town, and teaches one on one a couple days a week. We talked about what I want to learn, and got started on some simple picking and a couple of chords. I'm hoping to get comfortable enough to start taking it to jams in a month or two. With taking fiddle lessons at the same time, I might run into money issues soon, but for now, I'm really enjoying the music.

Carry it around with you. Seems like there's a ton of folks who play somewhat and can show you things. If you were in Nashville, for instance, there useta be thirteen hundred and fifty two to be exact, but I'm guessing there's as many pickers there now as there useta be mothers, which was fifteen thousand eighteen hundred and twenty one.........give or take.

That's a great idea. My teacher also gives guitar lessons. Maybe I'll bring it next time and take a 1/2 hour lesson on it too.
