Violin #70 Made by Carl Oliver, Truth and Consequences, NM 1985. Original hand written certificate from maker will accompany violin.
A one of a kind fiddle based on a 1734 Del Gesu pattern. Back and sides of Sycamore and top of Engelman spruce. The fingerboard is not of ebony. It matches the appearance of the handmade pegs. It is likely rosewood, but I'm not positive. It has a fresh professional setup that is very easy to play and currently outfitted with new Evah Pirazzi strings. Violin can be outfitted with strings of choice upon sale. Violin is in exceptional condition. The varnish is nearly impeccable without dings or scratches. The one repaired area is an open seam under the tailpiece, and this has been repaired and cleated on the inside. This was likely the makers doing as it does not appear as though the top has ever been removed. Strong and even tone. Clear but with texture and richness and lush low end that is well supported. A fine sounding fiddle and quite the eye catcher! Message me for sound samples.
