Beautifully restored, high-arch German trade fiddle. I'm selling this along with some others posted on FH to fund a 5-string I've been lusting over. I've taken a few shots from low angles to show the very high arch.

I just had the soundpost adjusted in this fiddle, and it really opened up the bass, which is now pretty awesome. This is a fiddle that was completely refinished out of necessity. I purchased this a few years ago from a woman who had stripped it and never refinished it, so I bought it from her and had a professional do it in a beautiful amber/honey finish that really glows.

This is a high-arch Stainer copy, with a booming bass and super-clear treble. The tone is very crisp and clean, with lots of resonance and sustain. My luthier thinks it's probably pre-1920, but that's about as close as he cares to guess. The purfling is near perfect...I had to really look hard to find any separations (see photos). All new setup: pegs, chinrest, Wittner tailpiece, bridge and Helicore strings.

NOTE: The only real blemish of any sort is a refilled area on the side that appears to have been chipped at one point. It had filler in it when I bought it, so I just left it that way. My luthier said he could replace the filler with a wood graft/patch, but at that point I didn't know how it was going to sound, and I didn't want to spend a ton of money for something purely cosmetic. If someone wanted to take the time and expense to put in a wood patch, that's certainly an option. This blemish is shown in one of the photos.
