This is a fiddle outfit I took in on trade. It's just a no-name fiddle, but it's well made and sounds very good. The case is a little worn, but the fiddle and bow are in excellent condition. The bow is just a Glasser fiberglass bow, but it plays well and has plenty of hair.
If you want a near-new fiddle to learn on, or a camp fiddle that doesn't give up much in the way of sound or playability, this might be a pretty good choice. The varnish is a clear medium amber, fittings are ebony.
I put a new bridge on it, as well as new Helicore strings. Then did a little fiddle magic to it, adjusted it so it sounds very good and plays easily. Great for Old Time, or just fiddling around.
Give it a listen, hear what I mean:
It's best to listen to this with good headphones turned up to real-world volumes. Most computer speakers are notoriously inaccurate.
The recording is a 320 bit mp3, recorded in a practice room on a Zoom H4 by an expert fiddler, with no EQ or any other effects. The room is very flattering, and the fiddler is a very good professional. Unless you are a top player, this fiddle will NOT sound like this for you, but it CAN, if you have the skills.
