German 'Hermann Lowendall' Strad copy. The label reads "Hermann Lowendall, Berlin. Reproduction of Ant. Stradivarius, Cremona 1722." Well-made German violin from the Markneukirken region. When I purchased it 15 years ago, I was told it was probably made in the 1880's, it seems more likely that it was made between 1926 and 1931. "Hermann Lowendall" is a fictitious name trademarked by the Henry Stadlmair Co. in New York N.Y. in 1926. These violins were apparently made by some of the better German workshops and were marketed for export and sold out of Berlin. It has a beautiful, rich, balanced tone and seems to record especially well. The flamed maple back and sides are quite lovely. It has a 1/2" well-repaired (before I got it) crack at the lower part of the treble f hole. No other repairs, none needed, and it is in very good condition. Includes case. $1500 plus shipping, 2-day approval period. PRICE REDUCED TO $1200
