Fantastic 1927 Heberlein fiddle, beautifully set up and ready to play. This fiddle was played professionally by a Nashville bluegrass fiddler and has a wonderful, smooth tone for blending in a Bluegrass ensemble.
It has a top-grade Aubert bridge that was expertly fitted and then sent to L.R. Baggs where they installed a pickup in it. The result is a MUCH higher quality bridge than the blanks Baggs normally embeds their pickups in.
The tone is sweet and smooth and in my hand it tends to ‘want’ to play double stops in tune. I find it’s a very forgiving instrument. It can cut through in a group, but won’t overpower the other instruments like some fiddles can. It sounds great acoustically as well as plugged in and it records very, very nicely.
The top varnish has extensive checking as seen in the photos. This is common among Heberleins of this era.
Structurally sound with no cracks or open seams. This is a pro level Bluegrass fiddle that ready to play. $2750 plus $90 for shipping net to me via PayPal.
