German-made John Juzek 15" viola. Excellent tone, new strings. Includes an inexpensive bow and what appears to be the original case. Please contact me for additional photos if you have any specific questions.
Most fiddlers are familiar with the Juzek name, but for those who aren't: Juzek was a master luthier with a shop in Prague CZ, and after WW2, he moved the shop to Germany. His personally-made instruments sell in the $3000 to $6000 range, but this was a "shop" model, which would have been made by an apprentice, with Juzek's oversight. This instrument is approximately 70 years old.
It has a well-used finish, and I purchased it from a luthier who'd bought it from a music conservatory in Pittsburgh, which might account for the dings and scratches. These do not affect the sound in any manner, and this would make an excellent instrument for someone who already plays a violin, as it has a shorter neck than an average 15" viola. Serious inquiries only, and not interested in trades.
Label is signed, and reads John Juzek, Violinmaker formerly in Prague, Made in Germany, and with his signature. Willing to bargain a bit, but please no lowball offers.
