Exceptional Burkholder Violin Made in 1932
A unique and beautiful handmade violin by E. N. Burkholder of Altoona, Pennsylvania. The label in the violin reads, "Made by E. N. Burkholder, 115 East Cherry Ave. Altoona, Pa. 1932. Worked to the pitch of E#."
The peg head is unique an beautifully made and is fitted with carved pegs. The top is select spruce and the one piece back is made from very nice curly maple. The fingerboard is ebony and the ebony tailpiece is decoratively carved. The violin has a deep mellow tone with very good balance and volume.
It comes in a good period hard-shell case with green plush lining. Also included is a good German made bow signed Grimm. The bow has a fully lined frog with an abalone slide. The bow is newly rehaired with horsehair.
The violin is set up with a high grade Aubert bridge and Prim Strings and is ready to play.
