Hi Fiddlers, As time allows I am offering Re-graduation services for fiddles that have a good look but just don't have good tone. What I'm talking about are old German, Chinese or Czech Trade fiddles that were never graduated properly for good tone. I also have a wide assortment of old fiddles that I sell each month. If you look on youtube under "Royce Burt Violins" you can see and hear them.
I'm not looking to re-graduate fiddles of any worthwhile pedigree. If you are interested, I'd like to see pictures and talk to you about it so that we can decide if the fiddle is worthwhile. I usually do several each year for folks as time allows. The re-graduation includes removing top, potentially removing old bass bar, graduating top, ribs adjustment thicknessing, back graduation, install new bar, wood treatment, glue back together (hide glue), Set up, new nut if needed, Set-up ect. After I see pictures and we discuss it we'll make a plan to get the fiddle to me and the timeline to complete.
