This violin was made by Ernst Heinrich Roth in collaboration with Max Lederer in his early years before he started the great E. H. Roth firm.
It is a beautiful example of fine early 20th century German violin making, and it is in outstanding condition. It bears the authentic label of Roth and Lederer:
Roth & Lederer
The violin also bears the handwritten number “143” on the inside back.
This violin sings with a beautiful focused tone from low to high. The sound is full all the way up the neck. It has a strong baritone voice on the lower strings, and a silvery soprano voice on the higher strings. It has excellent bow response, plenty of volume, and does not lose timbre when played softly. It is neither excessively dark nor excessively bright, but has a range of tone colors that are ideal for an expressive fiddler.
Please message me if you’d like a sound sample.
