Old fiddle with handwritten " repaired by Gustave Saenger (sp?) Amsterdam 1864. So what does that mean ...nothing, it simply adds to the mystery of an old violin. It measures about ~358 mm, light weight, "fairly flat at the edges, not sure it could be whalebone purfling. It has a clean clear sound and easy to hear the note whilst not harsh and loud enough to turn off your hearing aids. Rose wood pegs, fake ebony fingerboard with new Wittner tailpiece. Almost forgot crack free top and back with only a small repaired edge crack near right F-hole. Otherwise in very good shape with plenty of scuffs for years of being played. Ships in an original period old style case. If you don't like it... sender back.
IMHO: Will make a nice Old time or Bluegrass fiddle. Loud, full sound with a quick response.
