I just finished restoring this violin - new pegs, planed fingerboard, soundpost, bridge, and Helicore strings. The back of the scroll/pegbox has intricate floral carvings and a shield stating Imperial Amati Violin. The scroll/pegbox are also outlined in black. The Wilhelm Duerer label inside gives the 1900 date.
The violin and varnish are in great shape except for a few varnish dings. Nice tight grain spruce and highly flamed maple back, ribs, and neck. Quality tone with good response.
The tone is strong on the bottom end and has some sweetness on the A and E. It is smooth, resonant, and even - a fun fiddle to play and look at.
