Here is a 1930ish German (or French?) violin bearing a label, "Special Copy of Alessandro Gagliano". The body (363 mm) and string length (332) are slightly longer than average , making this more suitable for someone...well, slightly bigger than average. Beautiful golden varnish over a highly flamed maple back and sides. The button at top of back is fairly unusual in that it is concave.
There are several small repaired cracks near edges and the violin is in excellent playing condition with new rosewood pegs, chinrest, new soundpost, bridge, and Dominant strings.
The tone is strong, rich, and warm with good resonance and articulation. Suitable for all types of playing genres - bluegrass, celtic, jazz, classical.
