Up for sale, a nice John Silakowski revoiced fiddle. This one was a German trade fiddle from the late 19th/early 20th century. Silakowski regraduated the top and set the instrument up. I had a new bridge cut, a new sound post put in, and a few loose seams reglued a few years ago. I bought it online about seven years ago from Mark's Music, a shop that stocks a lot of Silakowski instruments. It has a nice even tone that works well for old time or would make a good instrument for an advancing beginner. The tone is gentle enough that bowing is nice and forgiving. There are two small cracks that have not moved at all since I've owned it. Both can be seen in the pictures. It is currently strung with Helicores on the D and G and a Jargar on the A. I like the way the Jargar sounds on the A. See the video linked under "more info" to get a better sense of the sound.
