At one time I know that James Price was a member of Ralph Stanley's band. I thought he was one of the best Bluegrass fiddlers that I've heard in a long time.

However, last I heard the fiddler with Ralph was Dewey Brown.

Where is James Price ?

I was about to post this same topic until I saw this one.

I've been wondering about this for a while. I know he was Ralph's second fiddler...
1.Curly Ray Cline
2.James Price
3.Todd Meade
4.John Rigsby
5.Dewey Brown

He left Ralph's band in 2003...i think. he made one solo CD and thats the last I heard of him.

My wife's grandfather was an influence of me. He and I enjoyed the fiddling of Chubby Wise, Kenny Baker, and Paul Warren.
I remember that he couldn't stand Mark O'Connor's fiddling.

Howver, I took him (my wife's grandfather) something with James Price on it . After he had a chance to listen to it he replied, " Now, there's a fiddler ! "

So...nobody knows where this guy is?

Here's an interview with him in Fiddler magazine, or part of it.
But it's not recent.

BUT...
here he is on MP3.com:
http://www.mp3.com/artist/james-price/summary/

And I think this is his website,
or his management's website (Newburgh Entertainment):
http://newburghentertainment.com/jamesprice.htm
It has excerpts off of a recent album with him singing.

And he has a fiddle album:

No you've got wrong, James Price here again.. I was third in line..Art Stamper was second. Also, I left the band in 2004 and recorded many CD's with Ralph.

Good to hear from you, James. Glad to hear you are alive and well. I'm a fan of your work, and of the Ralph Stanley band. I was a big fan of Art Stamper, too.

Any CD's in the works?

Good to hear from you James. I have also been a fan of your fiddle playing. I had planned to go to one of your shows when you were scheduled in shepheardsville Ky C.R. Wison's. Something came up and didn't get to go that night.

Practice only on days that you eat!!

Hi James! Glad you're doing well! I cracked my old copy of Southern Flavor and was looking online to buy a new one and found this old message here. Happy everythings going well with work and look forward to hearing you at some shows in the near future. Those shows when you were with the Clinch Mountain Boys were some of the best shows of my life. That old-time twist of your fiddle took the whole thing higher and it was just great to see the dust flying and the horse hair snaping when you tore it up!!! Well take care & hope you put out some more albums sometime soon! Thanks for the great songs and great memories.

Charlie
