I looked and looked all around this site but could not locate a good link to "Cherokee Shuffle"
The version we started in the Fiddler's Fake Book isn't a version I'm familiar with and while this is common in bluegrass/fiddle tunes,
I was wondering if anyone had a link to a different version? It's not incredibly pressing but, I wanted to focus on a different version if possible.
My teacher began this lesson last week I was totally lost for some reason. I mean, it's close but I can't grasp it just yet. Thanks in advance.

Is this the version you'd like to learn? youtu.be/z8NV09jDrWQ
Where does the version in the Fakebook come from? We have a copy of the book around here somewhere, but not sure where. I'm actually kind of surprised this tune is even in there, and I don't know where else you might find it. Sorry.

If you have a way to convert abc notation there are two transcriptions right here: ibiblio.org/fiddlers/CHER_CHURN.htm

Look at 'Lost Indian.' That's the OT version of Cherokee Shuffle. Usually played in D. I don't know why, you could play it in A just like C/S, one string over. They both have the relative minor at the end of the first phrase, creating tension, which gets resolved on the second phrase.
They're both in Fakebook. I play C/S pretty close to that version (it was introduced to me by our mando picker), but that's just me.

Well, they're related tunes, but whether they're just the same tune in different keys you can judge for yourself. Tommy Magness playing "Lost Indian" youtu.be/H4IrkPYs6J8

Yeah, that is a good site. I bookmarked it too. Looks like good notation for the tune too. Thanks.

I envy you all who can read. Thanks for the links. I am comparing both versions of C/C and L/I.
Side note, camping solo with my fiddle this weekend near the river so I plan on getting this one down before the weekend is over.
Last night I was close to the B part. However, the version I am learning doesn't sound the same as the way I've heard others play but once I get this version down, I hope to be expressive in my own way eventually!

What sets your tab apart and way, way above many tabs found here on this site, is that I can read it right away.

This 12 chromatic notes in an octave system instantaneously makes sense to me where this clumsy, 1L/ 3H contraptions
often found on this site leaves me no other choice than decoding it into the the logical system mentioned before. No wonder I'll generally have lost interest before completed.
To everyone, from now on, please use this (better) tab system Richard has shown to us.
