I need advice on a headphone amp for a new to me YEV-104, which has only a simple piezo pickup and no built-in electronics. The idea is to get something that will fit in the fiddle case, along with a set of earbuds.
I am tempted by the small battery-powered ones like this: amazon.ca/AP2BS-amPlug-Bass-Gu...&th=1 This would seem to fit nicely and do the basic job. I would guess that the "Clean" version is what I need, but I welcome advice.
Any comments or recommendations?
Thanks,
Harold

I use the bass model of these Vox amps because I was able to borrow one from a friend.
They are great. Well built and the sound is quite good. I don't think you will finder a better one at this size.

drjack - Do you use it in this same type of situation, with a passive piezo pickup? Since its designed for guitars with magnetic pickups, which have higher output and don't need such a high impedance input, I wondered if it would work, but it would be great if such a small, simpe and relatively inexpensive unit would do the job.

Funny you should mention the bass model. I have heard that bass amps work better for violins than guitar amps, presumably because of greater emphasis on the fundamental. Am I correct in thinking you have used the bass model Vox with a violin? with a piezo pickup?
I have taken a chance and ordered the bass model and look forward to its arrival. We shall see how it handles the piezo pickup with its high impedance. Here's hoping.
