The Violin Beautiful - Posted - 04/14/2022: 21:50:38
This is a fine example of the work of the Putsenteli family, Ukraine’s premier in the trade. They have won many international awards for their workmanship and tone and are played by excellent soloists and orchestral players alike. They have proved themselves admirably when played in the Kennedy Center, a hall that’s infamous for making many good violins sound minuscule.
They are real workhorses for players who need instruments that can handle anything that’s thrown at them, which is why they’ve earned a place in major orchestras. They’re less sensitive to their environment than many other fine violins, something that appeals to musicians who need reliable instruments for tours.
This one has been carefully adjusted for an ideal balance and response. It has a deep, rich tone with a chocolatey darkness that is hard to find. As dark as it is on the low end, it also has a rich and powerful upper end—the violin speaks easily, which is why it doesn’t die when it’s being played at the Kennedy Center!
