That is just some half assed rigging to make it look "right" it looks in no way playable. The strings are barely tight, just enough to keep the bridge up.

I would have liked to see the violin, out of curiosity, but for some reason Facebook Marketplace showed me this listing that was well outside my filter setting of 50 miles.

Most likely a parent bought that violin for a child who didn’t play it, so it sat for a long time. When they decided to get rid of it they opened the case and found that the tailgut had broken, so a parent decided to try a “quick fix” and came up with that lovely tailgut-substitute. They would almost certainly have had no idea where the bridge belonged, hence the ridiculous placement. You can tell the violin was not a serious pursuit for the seller.
